Lab 2: Cartography

Intro to GIS Lab Assignment 2:
Cartography

In this week's assignment, I was tasked with using ArcGIS Pro to create a map showcasing the University of West Florida's location. The map (as seen here), features an inset of Florida, to show the location of Escambia County in relation to the rest of the state. The main map shows the exact location of the campus in relation to major highways, cities, and rivers in the county. I chose the color green, as in most cases symbolizes land and really showcases the county to those viewing the map.

This week's lab was a daunting assignment and really immersed me in the GIS world. I have always appreciated viewing maps, but ArcGIS Pro has so many features. I can see why people dedicated hours and years of their lives protecting it. There is so much I could do with ArcGIS Pro but I'm just at the freshmen stage of learning. I'm looking forward to the next assignment and the new skills I'll be learning.
